JCSP Resources: Literacy
The JCSP Support Service has developed several resources that you may find useful. 'Between the Lines' is a teacher resource book that outlines a whole-school approach to literacy enhancement at Junior Cycle. It looks at the role of literacy in every classroom. The book encourages teachers to work through their own subject areas, as cross-curricular teams and as a whole school to improve literacy levels. This outlines the JCSP Literacy Strategy and provides support for schools in the school development planning process of literacy.
Who Wants to be a Word Millionaire?
A four to six week reading intervention.
Reading Challenge
A six week reading intervention.
Students are challenged to read at least a book a week for six weeks.
Reading Posters
There is a whole series of reading posters available in different sizes to promote reading in any classroom.
Keyword Initiative
The materials here can be used to support the teaching and learning of new language or key words across all subject areas.
Time to Read
The book 'Time to Read' outlines different ways of promoting reading in your school.
Paired Reading
A reading intervention that can run for four to six weeks.
Letter Writing
This booklet is about writing letters. People can tell a lot from the way you write letters, so you will need to practice writing many kinds of letters. This workbook will give you a chance to write all of these. Log in to download.
